Tips on using upper arm blood pressure monitor

Preparation before measuring blood pressure and how to measure it

  1. It is best to measure once every morning and evening, at about the same time every day. Do not measure when you are feeling unwell, overheated or cold, anxious, stressed, in pain, or unable to urinate.
  2. About 30 minutes prior to your blood pressure measurement, avoid smoking, eating, caffeinated drinks, exercising, and going to the toilet first to keep your mood calm. Before taking your blood pressure, you should sit in a chair and rest for at least 5 minutes, avoid crossing your legs, and take the measurement without distractions, such as talking or watching TV.
  3.  First, tie the armband around the arm. The front edge of the armband needs to be fixed on the inner bend of the elbow, leaving a distance of about 2 cm.
  4.  The height of the armband should be at the same level as the heart (if the armband is too low, the blood pressure reading will be higher than at the level of the heart.
  5.  After putting on the armband, relax with your palms facing up, start the blood pressure monitor and start measuring. Do not talk or move your body while measuring blood pressure.
  6.  If you don’t need to measure again, you can remove the armband and put the blood pressure monitor away, and record your blood pressure and the measurement date and time. You can even record your daily activities, such as what time you took your medicine, Mood and stress can help doctors adjust your medications more based on your condition.
